Grand Traverse Area Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.  Our Mission is to work in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God's people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended. Applications for homeownership are usually accepted in the fall.  Families are selected based on the following three criteria: Need for adequate home: Current conditions are inadequate, to small, poorly build, too costly, dilapidated. Ability to afford: Payments average $450-$550.  Applicants must have steady, verifiable income Willingness to Partner:  275 hours of "sweat equity" per adult required on home and other Habitat for Humanity projects.
